THE PREVIOUS TENANT LEFT ME A LIST OF RULES

A Note Before the Story

“The Previous Tenant Left Me a List of Rules” was originally posted on Reddit.

When I wrote it, I had no idea what kind of response it would receive. The story ended up getting attention far beyond anything I expected, along with comments, messages, and people asking about taking it beyond the original Reddit post.

Since then, I've been contacted by several people interested in narrating the story for YouTube. There's also been interest in the possibility of adapting it into a live-action film.

To be clear, none of those projects are completed or confirmed productions at this point. They're conversations and possibilities that grew out of people discovering the original story.

Rather than republishing the story here, I've decided to leave it where it began. You can read the original Reddit post, along with the comments and reactions it received, using the link below.

I'm also presenting this without accompanying artwork. That was intentional. I don't want to decide what these places, people, or things look like for you.

Whatever is waiting inside looks exactly the way you imagine it does.
